This site has more than 140 pages and about 70,000 names, mainly from previously unindexed material in record offices or libraries. Most of those people were born in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the USA or Canada. I'd like to add thousands more names in the future, but I'll need your help to keep this website online.

• Use the box below to search this entire site; but on pages with lists of names, scroll down and check for unexpected spelling variants.
  
  
• In search results, the SURNAME (uppercase) usually appears before the given name (eg, DOE John) but there are exceptions. Click the link in search results to understand the context.
  
  
• 'Main menu' links are across the top and bottom of most pages.
  
  
• 'Breadcrumb trail' links ('You are here') are below the main menu at the top of some pages.
  
  
• Many pages have extra links in 'Other Suggestions' near the bottom of the page.
  
  
• Links to external Web sites open in a new window.
  
  
• Most lists of names from my indexes have links (eg, 'how to obtain copies') leading to details of my copying service for that source.
  
  
• Keyboard shortcuts with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome and some other browsers (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the other key)
