Why I use & recommend Findmypast
A free Dropbox account provides a secure offsite backup for items that would be expensive or impossible to replace, and it is a great way to share documents or photos with relatives or friends. My article Natural Disasters and Family History illustrates why you should store backup copies offsite.
With Dropbox you can synchronise files between your computer, tablet, smartphone and the Internet. You can also choose which files you share with whom.
For clients who use my copying services, I generally send digital images of historical documents via Dropbox. You can still ask to have them sent by Australia Post, but Dropbox is safer and faster.
When the document images are ready, I'll email you a link. The 'download' button will then let you choose (1) 'Direct Download' to your computer, or (2) 'Save to my Dropbox'. Many people prefer the latter because it gives you a backup copy. To create a free Dropbox account:
