This site uses terms that appear in historical records. No offence is intended.

There is some variation in the contents of Woogaroo/Goodna Mental Asylum case books, but they often show the patient's mental disorder and its onset; changes in behaviour and general health; a physical description; aliases; age; marital status; number of children, and age of the youngest; occupation; country of birth; residence; religion; names of 'insane relatives'; previous admissions to interstate or overseas asylums; and comments such as 'works at sewing'.

Case books (except for the very early ones) are printed registers. They are completely different from insanity files. The two series were created for different purposes, so they contain different types of information. Names of patients for whom I can supply copies of entries in asylum case books are now included in the 'Insanity and Unsound Mind' lists. If you find a name of interest there, follow (VERY carefully) the instructions on the 'Research/Copying Service' page. That's the only way to find out what type of records I can obtain for a particular name.
